We are five students of Cousteau High school, situated in St Andre de Cubzac,

We created this blog for a project in English, so this blog will be written only in English !

In our group, created for this blog, there is Quentin, Laurent, Theo, Mallaury, and Marine.

Our group is named Sexy Sushie (like the famous band) and  we will talk about movies,

music, fashion, art and other topical subjects.

We have begun to watch a movie named "Mona Lisa Smile".

During the year, we shall watch other movies and in this blog, you will know everythings

  about theses movies certainly exiciting.

Fashion in the fifties is synonymous with glamour and elegance. The 1950's clothes are "hourglass" in shape (Fitted body with thin shoulder, small waistline, full skirt and high heels), as you can see in the "Mona Lisa Smile" movie. When Rock'n'roll came along, young girls stopped looking like their mothers, and adopted the Rockabilly fashion style, a more youthful look.

I've decided to revamp the 50's style. Here are some pictures that were took over a week ago. This photoshoot was a real pleasure to do ! But enough talking !  Here is a little selection:

Hi everybody, i'm Theo and today i want to talk about the Mona Lisa Smile's BO ! Because in my opinion , If there isn't a great or attractive soundtrack  on the movie , it looks like bland, and im sure you  know what i mean !

So , as you can see , the film takes place in the 50's . i'm sure you remember what happened musically in the 50's !

Yes , revolution !  A rock sketch arrives , it's the time of the first band who plays with electric guitars , bassguitars ...

Surely you must know Elvis Presley or Jerry Lee lewis who illustrate that time .

On this BO we may found different artists who are very famous for some of them as Tori Amos , Seal or Elton John !

these artists have habits to play another kind of music but for this film their soundtracks sound like the 50's songs and perfectly stick with the movie atmosphere and for me Mona Lisa Smile is more effectives because of this !

I let you with an Elton John soundtrack which is  played in the movie !

See you chicks !

In the film "Mona lisa smile" there is a very good

representation of the lifestyle in the 50's. It

showing the willingness of people to get a perfect life,

a perfect family, very often describe by a picture

represents a working family, happy together . The movie

revolves around this idea of a perfect family, but in the movie

we see that the dream of perfect life is not reallity and in the real life this dream

 is not really too.

Hi it's Quentin sorry for the very attractive fake title  but I'm not going to write you about Columbo's new season but about The Wellesley College in "Mona Lisa SMile"
Wellesley College is a private, highly selective women's liberal arts college located in Wellesley, Massachusetts, United States. Its 500-acre (200 ha) campus is located approximately 12 miles (19 km) west of Boston.

I enjoyed  "Mona Lisa Smile" but for me, one of its big defects is its subjective representation of  Wellesley college.
Indeed, in the film the students seem immature, just able to smoke and drink, the teachers seem more interested in money than in the work, for example the Italian teacher, Bill Dunbar played by Dominic West, who has got relationships with his students, or the director who is very nasty and strict.

This subjective representation of  Wellesley College makes lose credibility to the characters and so, the movie lose a lot of realism.

I'm not the only one who think that indeed.

Diana Chapman Walsh, was President of Wellesley College, from 1993 to 2007. During her tenure, the college revised its curriculum and expanded its programs in global education, internships and service learning, and interdisciplinary teaching and learning. The faculty established new majors in environmental studies, quantitative reasoning, cinema and media studies, neurosciences, and astrophysics. Japanese, Arabic and Korean languages were added to the curriculum as well, and a new department of East Asian Languages and Literatures was launched.

January 9, 2004, she wrote a message about "Mona Lisa Smile" she said a lot of intersting things like "The movie, to a far greater extent than the screenplay we originally read, characterizes the College as rigid and hidebound and the students as rich and spoiled." or " I do very much regret, however, the distress it has caused many alumnae, and especially alumnae who were students in the Fifties

You can read all his message if you want !!! => link
